About

Medway Music Teaching was founded by Felicity Cox in January 2001 with a simple goal: to make musical education accessible to all.

About Felicity

I began my musical education at the age of four, when I commenced piano lessons. I then took up the violin at age nine. During my younger years I was fortunate enough to be exposed to many different genres of music and had the opportunity to be part of the Gravesham Youth Orchestra, the Kent Youth String Orchestra and the Kent Youth Orchestra.

In 1996 I began studying for a degree in music at the Chichester Institute of Higher Education. (now The University of Chichester) Undertaking this degree enabled me to develop further as a musician and presented opportunities to explore yet even more genres of music in further depth. I graduated from university with a BA(HONS) Music in 1999. In 2023 I graduated from the University of Kent with a LLM, a Masters in Intellectual Property Law, where I specialised in copyright within the Music Industry.

Medway Music Teaching has gone from strength to strength over the years. As well as my extensive teaching at my home my experience includes teaching both violin and piano in a variety of local schools including: Kings, Rochester, Thamesview Infant School, Rainham, Fairview Primary, Wigmore, Brompton-Westbrook, Gillingham, Meredale, Rainham, Thomas Aveling, Rochester. I also have extensive experience teaching children and young adults with various Special Educational Needs and have taught in Rivermead, Gillingham and Meadowfields, Sittingbourne, and Blue Skies School, Rochester. (Where I taught classroom music)

Today the majority of my teaching takes place at my home, where again I am also able to accommodate those with various Special Educational Needs.
